Welsh Cup Final - Bangor 0, Rhyl 2
This is not so much a direct result of any cheating by Rhyl, apart from Lee Hunt the scally; they played a better game. It's more a case of denying us glory and a trip to Europe.
The day started off very well, a carnival atmosphere outside the Regency intoxicated me and led me to buying a flag and a blue and white plastic bowler hat. Now we looked like droogs. I tried to retain some optimism from the Semi but it was harder to accomplish. The general feeling from April - "I've got a feeling we could do this" has turned into "I've got a bad feeling about this". Our last few league performances, including a defeat to Rhyl, probably account for this trepidation.
It was funny to see so many people that either don't go or can't be bothered going on our coach. Gloryhunters!!!! There were also rumours of a "funbus" or "asbo special" also going so fun and games would possibly await in Wrexham.

We arrived in Wrexham to find that there had been some of the aforementioned activity and we weren't going to be allowed in any pubs.
We then decided to go and get a programme, after arriving at the area where the programme shop resides we found that our passage was barred by a massive closed gate. This was done no doubt to prevent interaction between Rhyl fans and ourselves. Rhyl Vs Bangor, up there with Boca Juniors Vs River Plate.

When we entered the ground there was a report that some people on the "Asbo special" had thrown a brick at a Rhyl supporters coach. Well Done to them, they never come normally and then we get all the shit. Bangor fans seemed to outnumber the Rhyl fans by at least 2:1, so much more their campaign to get 2,000 to come. The game was a bit like a reunion as I saw Sputnic, Adam and Hywyn.
As the teams came out the anticipation grew again as a snese of "We can do this" became the overriding emotion. Our Wales-esque kit looked quite good. A red card protest was made agianst the F.A.W., but probably will have been censored.
As the first half went on the nervy situations became unbearable as Rhyl kept attacking and all the Blues could manage was a couple of shots. Half Time came and the score was 0-0. All we had to do now was hold out and hit them on the break......
At half time I noticed Owian Tudor-Jones, who has recently been called up to the Wales squad. I offered my congratulations and went off for an extortionatly priced Fanta. I arrived back at my seat to see the second half was about to kick off.
Our hopes lasted about ten minutes. Rhyl were awarded what seemed a dubious penalty, due to a view-obstructing pole I can't really question the veracity of the referee's decision. The consensus seemed to say that it wasn't a penalty and that's good enough for me. It was now 1-0 to Rhyl as Moran the cheat scored. Rhyl doubled their lead than they scored a good team goal. To make things even worse Robbo missed a penalty with about five minutes left.
Not the best day ever.
