Bangor City 1 Cwmbran Town 1
Welsh Premier League
This match was extremely frustrating. Cwmbran didn't look that good but Bangor didn't finish them off. It didn't help our cause that Jiws or indeed any Bangor player was judged to be offside every time that they went beyond the Cwmbran defence, even when we could clearly see that they were onside. On top of this it was unseasonally hot. Global warming played its part in helping us draw, probably.
The tone was set in the first five minutes as Robbo hit the post from inside the six yard box. A few more chances to score were not taken at either end but the majority were Bangor's. By the end of the first half today had the feeling of being "one of those days"
Now the second half, after about ten minutes the unseasonal hot day began to affect me so God knows how the players will have been affected. On the other hand watching in football in just short sleeves in October is pleasant, if this is the price of global warming I'm off to Snowdownia with a chainsaw and plans for a coal-fired power station.
Cwmbran scored against the run of play but Bangor didn't reply until there was just under 10 minutes left. This was mainly due to another incompetent set of officials, as outlined earlier. Then Robbo missed a certain chance to score a winner at the end, he's evidently suffering from a confidence shortage at present. So a draw was then end result.
One thing that amused me today was one of the Cwmbran players listed in the programme, a Mr. Troy Quarterley. He sounds like someone who has a secret life as a super hero, failing that at least a part in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. I can just imagine a series of books now, the erotic adventures of Troy Quarterlty, Centre back. In fact I think that my literary career is about to begin.
Back to the league then
