For a split second last night my dreams nearly came true. Liverpool were about to kick-off against PSV Eindhoven and there was something different. There was no sound. It was a little strange at first but then I realised; I couldn't hear Andy Townsend. By the time I grew to enjoy this sensation the sound was restored and I not only had Andy but Robbie to keep me company. On the bright side it wasn't Alan Shearer, Jamie Redknapp or Andy "bastard" Gray. Why do these bloody ex-pros tell us things in their analyses that any fan with an ounce of intellect could see straight away.
Lines like; "Well, they'll be doing everything they can to win" (when a win is required), "He'll be gutted about missing from there" (an open goal), "Look at that, that defending's shocking" (when a defender fails to clear a ball correctly). Are these the special qualities that the professionals bring? Stating the blindingly obvious. I had hopes until Martin O' Neill got a management job. The media seems to be like an old-boy's network, or is it just me?
