Yesterday some Rangers fans' behaviour nearly landed the club in deep trouble. It all started when some of their fans were caught on camera performing "one-arm salutes". That fans are displaying what sounds like fascist arm gestures is bad enough. It is even worse when you consider that the saluting happened in a UEFA Cup match is Israel, the phrase "sick bastards" springs to mind.
The club said that they were merely giving the red-handed salute from Ulster. So they're definitely not Neo-Nazis then, just loyalists, which is OK apparently. But that isn't either according to the club. Honestly it's political correctness gone mad. Firstly you're not allowed to make hand gestures that hint at a fondness for suppressing Catholics and can be misconstrued as Nazi salutes. Then some people try to make a fuss out of it. What is the world coming to?
A better question is; Why don't certain Rangers fans leave the 17th century behind?
