TNS 5 Bangor City 2
There had been a feeling of hope amongst Bangor's ultras before this. This was due to our 6-0 win last week and the fact that Jiws said he was fired up for this because he was deemed to be unwanted by TNS in the summer. Because of this general feeling I had gained the impression that Bangor would have a large contibngent in Llansantfraid today.
I arranged to meet the Bus near Tesco in Llandudno Junction and surprised to see just a minibus turn up. Not only that but it was only about half full. Apparently someone was getting married that day so some notables wouldn't be coming. There was another minibus however and loads were reportedly going by car so about 150 was touted although that did sound a bit hopeful. Another problem hit us, there were only 3 on the other minibus so we'd all have to get on one to save a bit of money for the supporter's association. Unforeseen factors were affecting Dewi's new travel club duties.
We got to the usual pre-match destination of Oswestry for a few refreshments and some lunch. I'd never been here when it was sunny on a Saturday and looks like a pleasant place to live, if you don't like too much action that is.
We got into the parking spaces at Y Treflan and were met with everyone's favourite car park attendent, mainly because of his lack of skill in the job. We entered the ground and waited for the match to start with an eager sense of anticipation. As is the done thing at certain grounds we waited to see which end we were attacking before deciding where to stand.
We were going to attack the end opposite to the stand so we made our way down there. As we got to that end we were told by the steward that we weren't allowed to stand there on Police Advice. The amount civil disorder 10 mild-mannered fans can cause is debatable but rules are rules I'm afraid and what has reason got to do with it. To the other side of the pitch then.
As we were travelling the opposite side of the pitch Bangor scored thorough Jiws, wouldn't you know it, all seemed set fair for a Bangor win. This now seemed like an opportune moment to drape the flag. I thought why not put it behind the goal, what harm could a flag do? A lot apparently as this was forbidden also. The side of the pitch would have to suffice then. After about 5 mninutes this too was forbidden, FAW rules apparently. Why did this all smack a of pettiness? As we all know the TNS owner, Harris can be very petty.
After all this drama Bangor started to lose goals and it was 3-1 at the break. The worst thing about the first half was an assault on Bangor's new wonder winger, Sion Edwards by Naylor and his flying elbow.
The second half wasn't much better as Bangor failed to make any clear-cut chances and they conceded two more after Ricky Evans was sent off. Sion Edwards had to go off with the effects of concussion and Jiws scored his second with a couple of minutes left. Bangor had been outplayed and a day that had started out with so much hope ended with frustration.
To round the day off perfectly we had the sight of the Naylor lounging arrogantly, in the manner of a football superstar that he so obviously is, and dispensing pearls of philosophical insight. Apparently Sion had "run into my arm", cue chuckles. It took all of my good upbringing not to challenge the odious gobshite. The cretin was oblivious to the sight of the helicopter on the pitch that had been ordered to take Sion to hospital. Now for Rhyl on Tuesday.
Naylor, what a twat.
